is the story of a four day brief encounter in Marbella, a quaint little town on the shores of Mediterranean Sea that ends nine months later when the lovers meet a second and only time, during an idyllic three snowy days in the Adirondack Mountains, upstate New York. A beautiful romance that lasts only seven days and ends in the hills around Sacandaga Lake . Beautiful things don’t last.

The plot is simple, one we all can relate to. People looking for something they think might exist but had escaped them so far in their lives.

Think of Francesca, in Bridges of Madison County. Now bring it up to today. A sophisticated 35 year old American female, Isadora, in her prime, beautiful, sharp, engaging, perhaps the trophy wife of one of the elderly rich Europeans visiting the Marbella resort town at this time of the year. Alejandro Faust is 40 now. He is successful in business, intellectually inclined and a lover of all things beautiful. He’s taking a hard earned break after a difficult week negotiating a fashion deal in Paris and meets this lady — who insists in not revealing her name — and he baptizes her as Isadora.

The story ends the same way it began.... in an instant!

Isadora is part of a larger project I’m beginning to serialize as many important novels were in the past. I thought if Flaubert serialized his Madame Bovary, Tolstoy his Anna Karenina, and Tom Wolfe his Bonfire of the Vanities — to mention just a few — why not my Final Judgment. Of course my opus will eventually see the light of day as a hardcover, the same way all those magnificent masterpieces materialized one day and are still roaming our homes, libraries and bookstores, I’m sure forever. But in the meantime why deny ourselves the pleasure of enjoying a beautiful romance.

Isadora is just an installment.... or a chapter if you want. She is destined to be a player at a great reunion that will take place at the end of my opus. The chapter is not being published in any particular order because it doesn't matter anyway..... She’s one of many characters and this chapter is her own as much as each of the other chapters belong to each of the other characters that will meet for a final confrontation at the end of Final Judgment. Isadora’s relevance in the whole story has to do with the briefness of time, chance and fate if you believe in that.

Obviously we have heard of the main character Alejandro Faust, the kid and young boy, in two comic and witty short stories, The Report Card and Casanova downsized, published in the last six to eight months. Now we find that kid Alejandro is a forty year old man of the world. He’s part of a larger drama and I’m using one of his romantic adventures just to try to hook or entice you to read this and all the other short books to follow. I hope you do.
